FYI: It will take a few seconds for the video to play. My VLC did not play any YouTube links until I downloaded and replaced the VLC "a" file with a newer updated one, afterword it played them well. Although I think I can provide easier instructions below. The link that member "iliketrains" referenced is one of a few others I found that say the VLC application needs a newer "a" file. Although, you can download the video and try to play them locally. Also, playing videos at higher resolutions requires computer hardware that can play and view the higher resolutions and fast enough Internet speed from your ISP otherwise you get constant "buffering". Some browsers support video acceleration and others do not and you may have to enable it in your Linux system and in the browser's configuration (see links at bottom). If your hardware supports video acceleration, the videos will play better and use less power. You may have to start playing the video before you right-click it to copy the URL (link).Īs has been stated, most browsers can already play youtube videos including fullscreen with or without video acceleration enabled. The YouTube video link you provided is not working. If you run " inxi -Fxzd" and " lsusb" from the console terminal prompt, highlight the results, copy and paste them back here, that should provide enough information. It would help to know more about your system setup. I just read your post and the good replies to it. Welcome to the wonderful world of Linux Mint and its excellent forum!
